Pingbacks as the new link exchange.
Webmasters are constantly looking to exchange links with other websites. Most turn to companies like Link Exchange and use this service to find other like minded webmasters and, of course, this is all in the name of google rankings. With the rise of social networks (in particular blogs) this option may well be replaced by pingbacks.
“A pingback is one of three types of linkbacks, methods for Web authors to request notification when somebody links to one of their documents. This enables authors to keep track of who is linking to, or referring to their articles. Some weblog software, such as Movable Type, Serendipity, WordPress and Telligent Community, support automatic pingbacks where all the links in a published article can be pinged when the article is published.

POP3 quit: connection does not exist
If you are using a gmail account to post to wordpress then you must
use ssl://pop.gmail.com as the mail server.
I knew gmail used ssl – I’ve never seen it entered like this anywhere
else though. Usually it requires an ssl box to be ticked somewhere.
